PRI Awards Acadian Top Scores
Scores serve as testament to Acadian’s continued commitment to ESG criteria integration
August 1, 2019, BOSTON, MA - Acadian Asset Management is pleased to announce it has been awarded the top score of A+ in the categories of “strategy and governance” and “incorporation” for its systematic approach to responsible investing, The score was awarded by the Principles for Responsible Investment (‘PRI’) in its 2019 assessment report and demonstrates Acadian’s long-term expertise in integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (‘ESG’) criteria, which is core to Acadian’s responsible investment commitment and process.
“We are delighted to receive an A+ from PRI surrounding our incorporation and strategy and governance efforts,” said Asha Mehta, head of responsible investing at Acadian. “We believe that ESG goes hand-in-hand with traditional investment strategy, which is why we were early adopters of ESG and the first quant PRI signatory 10 years ago in 2009. These scores are a testament to our decade-plus commitment to integrating ESG criteria to meet client needs, identify unique sources of potential outperformance, and support a more sustainable and stable marketplace for generations to come.”
Acadian currently integrates factors into its core investment process along each dimension of ESG. This includes, but is not limited to, the ability to factor in an implicit carbon tax on high-emitting companies as well as identifying further investment options for risk controls, monitoring political profiles to determine country exposure in developing markets, and utilizing related governance factors in Acadian’s bottom-up, systematic framework to include considerations of board independence, litigation, and fraud potential.
As integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (‘ESG’) criteria remains a key issue for institutional investors, the PRI’s annual assessment of over 1,800 signatory companies allows investors to better identify managers with leading approaches to responsible investing.
