John Chisholm to Retire as Co-CEO of Acadian Asset Management

Ross Dowd, co-CEO, will assume sole leadership following Chisholm’s retirement next year

BOSTON – June 7, 2021 – Acadian Asset Management LLC, a leader in systematic investing with $110 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2021, has announced that John Chisholm, co-CEO, will retire from the firm effective July 1, 2022. Chisholm’s co-CEO Ross Dowd will assume the role of sole CEO following Chisholm’s departure.

“Over the last 35 years, I have had the pleasure of watching Acadian grow from just a few determined team members to a global asset manager with 370 employees and four offices across the world. Despite its growth, Acadian’s mission is the same as it was at its inception – to put clients first, and to be their most trusted source of investment insight and success,” said Chisholm. “I am beyond confident that Ross will continue to successfully lead Acadian and believe that the firm is incredibly well positioned to support our clients into the future.”

Chisholm co-founded Acadian with Gary Bergstrom, Churchill Franklin, and Ron Frashure in 1986. He assumed the co-CEO role in 2018, after previously serving as Chief Investment Officer and co-CIO dating back to 1998.

“I have had the privilege of working with John for many years and have learned in countless ways from his experience as a leader and depth of skill in the industry,” said Dowd. “It’s an honor to have jointly led the firm with him over these last several years, and I’m immensely gratified to have the opportunity to lead Acadian into our next chapter, working alongside an experienced executive management team and many talented colleagues to provide our clients with innovative investment strategies built on our established expertise.”

Dowd joined Acadian in 2004, and prior to the co-CEO role, he managed the combined global client service and marketing effort for Acadian, with responsibility for global business development and institutional consultant and client service relationships. Prior to joining Acadian, he served in various roles including portfolio management, investment strategy, business development, and client relationship management with Barclays Global Investors. He earned his M.B.A. at the University of Chicago and a B.A. at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
