Position Overview
As a member of our technology group, the Software Engineer will be responsible for the continuing design, development, analysis and staging of critical data stores used in support of Acadian’s quantitative investment process. The Software Engineer will also be required to work collaboratively with the members of the equity research and investment process teams to identify primary and alternative data sources from available internal and external data vendors. This position will report to the Principal Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the automated acquisition and cleansing of equity return and reference data.
- Design, develop and maintain a centralized repository of fundamental, statistical, technical and model forecast data that will be used by the research team.
- Create and enhance methods to formulate cross-sectional and time-series factor data.
- Assist researchers and developers with the location and use of factor and forecast data.
Qualifications
- Must have 5+ years prior experience designing and developing robust, data-centric, software solutions.
- Superior MS SQL Server development, analysis and modeling skills with large data sets.
- Ability to quickly and independently learn and master financial and statistical concepts.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Good communication skills are a must to work collaboratively with groups other than IT.
- Financial industry experience preferred.
- C++, Matlab and C# development experience is highly desirable.
- At a minimum, must have a BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or the Physical Sciences.
