Performance and Attribution Analyst

Position Overview:

This role is responsible for the calculation and review of Acadian performance, attribution and composite information disseminated throughout the organization and used in external marketing materials.

The Performance and Attribution Analyst will work closely with the Marketing and Client Service team. This is one of the key people in the organization charged with understanding composite performance calculation and the GIPS Guidelines for performance presentation. The role reports to the Head of the Performance and Attribution team. The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail, strong background in performance calculation and accounting, excellent analytical, project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Ensure prompt, accurate calculation and reporting for all composites, as well as other performance-related data for a variety of purposes. Specific responsibilities include:
  •  Update/review creation of standard composites on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Track new clients and adjust composite universe as appropriate
  • Write and/or review composite commentary and compile summary reports
  • Run and analyze StatPro and BARRA attributions; provide detailed (excel) attribution analysis internally/externally as requested
  • Monitor GIPS standards and oversee ongoing review with external verifier
  • Work with Marketing and Client Service team to ensure prompt, accurate performance information for consultant databases, client requests and questionnaires
  • Assist/track the completion of internal deadlines for composite maintenance/distribution
  • Support RFP process and Marketing trips to Australia, Japan, and Europe by providing custom performance in requested currencies
  • Calculate performance for simulated strategies
  • Notify management, compliance, and marketing of any composite concerns
  • Ensure composite due diligence, review and document as required
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and disclosures are updated and reviewed as appropriate
  • Assist and train other Performance Analysts as needed
  • Oversee special requests as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or another financial related degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in performance measurement (or a similar role within investment operations or accounting) with an asset management firm or large custodial bank
  • Prior knowledge of BARRA, STATPRO, FACTSET, GIPS, DSTi, Excel, Bloomberg, Reuters desired
  • CFA or CIPM, or demonstrated progress towards one, is a plus
  • Must be well organized, flexible, able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Extremely strong analytical skills, attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with some prior service experience
  • A strong ability to multi-task and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate high commitment to meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations
