Network Engineer

Position Overview:

The Network Engineer is primarily responsible for design, implementation and troubleshooting of Acadian’s enterprise network. This includes assuring appropriate reliability and scalability in network access and bandwidth. In addition the Network Engineer will be responsible for 24/7 production systems monitoring, and deployment coordination in a primarily Windows 2003 Server environment as well as assisting in defining best practices and service level agreements for Acadian’s enterprise network.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support

  • Architect and maintain Acadian’s LAN and WAN environments
  • Support network service delivery to the Acadian business units 24X7.
  • Provide technical support for network components to all Acadian business units and monitor the operation and integrity of network systems.
  • Participate in the Incident Management and Problem Management processes. Perform root cause analysis, resolution and reporting.
  • Work with business and IT team members to set Service Level Agreements (SLA) for network services
  • Responsible for proactively monitoring and reporting on network services including gathering and reporting systems availability, performance and volume metrics, both in business and IT terms.
  • Coordinate change management and maintenance scheduling
  • Act as a technical liaison with outside vendors. Validate and implement the network infrastructure of IT projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

This person must have a strong systems network design and administration background with at least 5 years of experience. The ability to spot problematic areas, analyze solutions, propose resolutions and direct their implementation is essential. Candidates must have a strong technical background, strong written and oral communication skills, project management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. A successful candidate is a motivated self-starter with an aptitude for learning new skills and environments quickly while multi-tasking on more than one deliverable.

Core technologies (expertise expected):

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • A minimum of 5 years in critical enterprise network support.
  • TCP/IP networks
  • CISCO Routers and Switches
  • Checkpoint Firewall Management
  • Network Performance Analysis
  • Network Traffic Analysis
  • Outstanding time management skills required
  • Must be highly self-motivated and customer service oriented.

Secondary technologies (mastery or familiarity with preferred):

  • IDS/IPS Systems
  • WAN Compression Devices
  • Storage Area Networking
  • Network Security

Certifications:

  • CCNA Required
  • CCIE Preferred
