Position Overview
The Enterprise Operations Engineer is primarily responsible for championing the security, stability, scalability and maintainability of Acadian’s global infrastructure.
This includes the design and implementation of operational processes as well as participation in systems architecture and design. The Enterprise Operations Engineer will be responsible for ensuring and managing delivery of projects, determining project resources, and building processes and procedures to ensure operational excellence for the enterprise infrastructure.
In addition, the Enterprise Operations Engineer will be responsible for assisting in capacity planning, disaster recovery, backups, documentation, server based application support and troubleshooting and network project implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that enterprise computing resources are available to the end users at all times.
- Implement enhancements and updates to ensure technology currency. Troubleshoot as problems arise.
- Maintain and manage existing server, network and application environments.
- Implement new equipment. Plan and expand the enterprise systems infrastructure. Coordinate systems capabilities with user and business needs while anticipating future requirements of both the internal systems and end users.
- Support IT service delivery to the Acadian business units 24X7, including on-call rotation.
- Ensure on time delivery of Infrastructure Projects and Initiatives
- Assist in delivering successful change management and maintenance scheduling
- Projects - First 9 months:
- Normalize enterprise alerting system
- Update and normalize operational standards and procedures
- Update backup infrastructure
- Migrate file server to new platform
- Assist in the migration of core datacenter to a 3rd party collocation facility
Qualifications:
- The Enterprise Operations Engineer must have a strong IT Operations and engineering background with at least 5 years of experience, preferably in a financial services organization
- Bachelor's degree required
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence other IT professionals
- Strong understanding of client-server and networking components, server architectures, server performance bottlenecks, network and storage infrastructures
- Experience automating, monitoring and auditing administrative tasks
- Experience creating, executing, monitoring and reporting on security controls and hardening
- In-depth and up to date technical knowledge and hands on experience with installation, configuration and administration of most of the following technologies:
- Storage Area Network Technologies
- Cisco Networking (LAN/WANN/Wireless/Security)
- Citrix Xenap
- Commvault or similar backup technology
- Helpful certifications would include CISCO, VMWare, MSCE and/or Project Management
- The ability to spot problematic areas, analyze solutions, propose resolutions and direct their implementation is essential
- Successful candidates will have a strong technical background, strong written and oral communication skills, project management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment, and be a motivated self-starter with an aptitude for learning new skills and environments quickly while multi-tasking on more than one deliverable
