Consultant Relations Officer

Acadian Asset Management LLC is a Boston-headquartered investment management firm with wholly owned affiliates located in Singapore and London. As of December 31, 2011, the firm managed approximately US$42 billion on behalf of major pension funds, endowments, foundations, governments and other investors based in the U.S. and abroad.

Position Overview

The Consultant Relations Officer works to establish and maintain strong relationships within the Investment Consulting community, representing Acadian’s investment capabilities and views, while providing outstanding service.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with field consultants and research staffs on a regular basis to assess and develop their knowledge of our firm, products and capabilities.
  • Facilitate contact between consultants and investment professionals within Acadian.
  • Manage information inquiries from consultants by working closely with internal resources.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with various internal functional groups (i.e., Research, Marketing, Client Service, Client Reporting, Portfolio Construction, Operations.
  • Provide leadership on assigned relationships, and for client related matters generally, within the organization.
  • Represent the investment views of the firm to consultants & clients.
  • Manage expectations, balancing the interest of both clients and the organization.
  • Seek opportunities to expand consultant relationships working closely with sales professionals.
  • Partner with other functional areas to address consultant- client issues, concerns, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of marketplace ( geographical, specialty and/or client type).
  • Contribute to professional development of associates and other support staff.
  • Generally contribute to the management of the business, by participating in projects, committees, and informal groups.
  • Participate in consultant, vendor and industry conferences as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years experience focused on investment management – demonstrable experience with Institutional Consultants, Clients or Prospects
  • Consultant experience preferred
  • MBA/CFA preferred
  • Willingness to travel

Interpersonal/Communication Skills:

  • Establish effective relationships with consultants and clients; develop strong rapport, and ultimately gain the trust and confidence of each client; demonstrate the ability to set and manage expectations; generally ensure a productive working relationship exist at all times.
  • Establish effective working relationships internally, ensuring all interested parties are appropriately informed of and involved in Consultant and client-related matters.
  • Demonstrate outstanding presentations, listening, and writing skills.

Investment Knowledge:

  • Be able to represent the investment views of the firm in both informal and formal settings. Stand in for PM and other members of the investment process as necessary.

Business Management Skills:

  • Demonstrate the ability to anticipate consultant needs, issues, and concerns
  • Demonstrate strong business judgment, including the ability to synthesize multiple complex issues and effectively balance competing objectives.
  • Engage the organization appropriately, making sure that all relevant parties and functional groups are informed, involved, and engaged in relationship and business management issues.
  • Make appropriate determinations of resource usage, and demonstrate strong ability to prioritize issues.
  • When necessary, initiate or advocate changes to workflow and organization in order to best meet client and organization objectives.
